Martin is an exceptionally skilled teacher. He offers incredible patience and attentiveness which clearly reaches students of diverse levels of ability. My sons passion for music continued to grow and grow whilst under Martins teaching. My son has additional needs and notably Martin was able to engage my son in a manner in which placed him very much at ease and additionally helped him stay focused during his lessons. Martin is also incredibly personable and is clearly able to identify key strengths in students and therefore support their skills, at the same time challenge their learning which helps enormously to build confidence. I’ve been having guitar lessons with Martin for just over 12 years now and as well as being a great guitarist, Martin is an excellent musician and teacher too. My lessons are always engaging and enjoyable whether we’re working towards a grade, improvising, or jamming – and as a female guitarist wanting to play a lot of Taylor Swift and Gabrielle Aplin songs, he’s never complained! Not only have my guitar lessons helped me achieve great grades in my GCSE for music, but they have also continued to support my musical development throughout my BA Music degree at university…

…Before starting guitar lessons with Martin, I didn’t know what I wanted to do when I grew up. As well as giving me a hobby that I adore, my guitar lessons have also given me a career path, and I am now looking forward to starting my teacher training for music in September 2020. Martin has been teaching my Son to play electric guitar for four years now. He has made excellent progress and it has been brilliant for me to be able share in this by attending the weekly lessons throughout this period of time. Martin is an amiable, open character who has built an excellent teacher/student relationship with my Son as well as establishing a strong rapport with both of us. His skills as a guitarist and a teacher are exemplary. Martin clearly has vast knowledge and experience which he demonstrates and communicates with an infectious enthusiasm during lessons.

I started as an absolute beginner and have really enjoyed learning to play guitar with Martin’s help. He is a great teacher and has guided me through step by step from the very basics to a level where I am now in a band and confident playing live. Some of my lessons have followed the structure of the Rock School process – I have passed all the exams I have sat along the way so I have also achieved recognised accreditation but this has never seemed like the only focus of my lessons.

I’ve been having guitar lessons with Martin now for 4 years and we cover a diverse range of styles from acoustic finger picking to electric guitar improvisation. When I first started playing for about a year, I was trying to teach myself from the multitude of “Guitar Gurus” on the Internet, but all too often I had questions that needed answering and I needed more structure to what I was doing. From day one with Martin, I got exactly what I needed. It goes without saying Martin is an excellent teacher.

Martin helped me to structure my guitar practice and introduce music theory in a way that was easy to digest. I’d have no hesitation in recommending him to anyone who wants to learn guitar.
